I hate Saturday nights!!!
Now that I have your attention, I don't really hate Saturday nights but during the summer, Saturday night television sucks! I am the person that on Saturday night (if I have nothing else going on) I catch up on my DVRed shows and then...NOTHING!!! During the summer it is even worse because I don't have anyting on my DVR and so...well...I watch reruns. Reruns are not bad, I love reruns of my favorite old shows, if you can find them on TV. I just wish there was more original television during the summer, or at least on Saturday nights.
OK, TV People, I want more original TV on Saturday nights and please remember that not all people go out of town or go to the movies during the summer - so don't make us watch reruns or, worse yet, bad TV. You have an audience - USE US!!
What do you watch on Saturday nights?
Get the most out of your watching

Set your DVRs for Tonight!
Dancing with the Stars on ABC, 90210 on the CW, Mad Love, Mike and Molly and Hawaii Five-O on CBS. Too many choices and not enough time!

Modern Family
I am one of the many, many people on the Modern Family happy train! I LOVE THIS SHOW!! It is one of the best written shows on TV today. It is smart, funny and unexpected. Of course there are times they go for the easy or obvious laugh but when they do it might not be at the expected time. They have fresh jokes and impeccable comedic timing. The adults are perfectly casted and the kids are not nearly as annoying, and tend to have better lines than most shows with kids. I think the take of the new nuclear family is different and everyone can see a little of their family somewhere. Yes, oh, yes, it is a Modern Family love fest!!

Dancing with the Stars
What can I say...So long Sugar Ray Leonard! I enjoyed seeing such a legend try something new, but he was so NOT on my radar that I was surprised almost every week because I forgot that he was even on on the show. When I think about it, I can't remember what he did for the first 2 dances. I remember his Paso, but only because he tried to box while he danced. Also the Paso is my favorite dance and I thought he did it pretty poorly! The "waltz" he did Monday night was kind of weird. He sort of danced, he sort of didn't. I really didn't know what to think except that he seemed to enjoy himself. Oh well, bye-bye Sugar Ray!
As far as the other celebrities go...Step it up! Show us what you have! You all can do better! Keep the entertainment coming and we will keep watching. I can't wait 'til Monday night to see what they do for Patriotic week!

Dancing with the Stars
OK, I didn't get to watch last night, but I just finished Dancing with the Stars. Kirstie has been klutzy and definitely not at her best. Kendra is just become annoying and she doesn't seem to be getting any better. Also, she needs to keep her mouth shut when the judges talk, hasn't she seen the show before?
I am starting to like Chris Jericho more and more. He is getting better with every dance. I love his partner, Cheryl, but it would be nice to see one of the other girls win.
Chelsea Kane has been doing better as a dancer, I have just not liked what she was dancing. I really wish Mark Ballas wasn't trying so hard and go back to just making the dances good instead of making things too creative...it's like he is trying to make up for not having Derek Hough on the show this season.
Elimination night tonight!!!
Who do you think should go???

Mike and Molly
Unfortunately I feel I need to put this show in the category of What you're Not watching. It has been renewed for next season, but there is never any press except for when it first premiered. Mike and Molly is one of, if not, the only comedy on TV right now that has plus size people as the main characters.
Billy Gardell plays Officer Mike Biggs and Melissa McCarthy (Sookie from Gilmore Girls) plays a teacher named Molly Flynn. These two characters meet at an Overeaters Anonymous and completely hit it off. Of course the show has its fat jokes, how could it not, but they are tasteful and not hurtful. Oh, and it's FUNNY! I applaud CBS for keeping the show on and letting these characters develop and not just be the butt of bad fat jokes.
The supporting cast is also fabulous. Mike's police partner still lives with his mouthy, religious grandmother. (Plenty of jokes there!) Molly still lives with her gorgeous figured family, a 'loose' mom and pot smoking, sister. (Plenty more jokes!) The diner that Mike and his partner frequent often, is run by Samuel (Nyambi Nyambi), from the country of Senegal, who comes with the best one liners of the show. (He needs more face time and MORE lines!)
This show is a little gem. I hope it lasts and continues to just get better.

Hawaii Five-O
I am not sure if I should put this show in the category of My Series Picks, What you're Not watching, or Guilty Pleasures. I hear things about the show, but not much, and when I mention it to others they seem to think I may be crazy for not only watching it but also liking it. It is different from the original Hawaii Five-O. (Thankfully they kept the theme song!)
The cast is great and fun to watch. Alex O'Loughlin plays Steve McGarrett, the head of the special police force called Five-O. He takes off his shirt a lot (I mean it is Hawaii) and he seems to be near or around where the action is at all times. Scott Caan is Danny "Danno" Williams. He has some of the best lines (minus 'Book'em Danno!"). He is the smart-ass in the show and it fits him well. Daniel Dae Kim, Chin Ho Kelly, is the only recognizable face (unless you watch Entourage, and you would know Scott Caan). Daniel Dae Kim is probably the best actor and most believable of the cast. Being a huge LOST fan, it has been nice to watch him again and see him have the opportunity to change outfits every show and maybe more than once in an episode. Grace Park , Kono Kalakaua, is the youngest and least experienced in the cast. She fits well and holds her own with the all male testosterone .
Even if you don't feel that the cast is pretty enough to watch then the majestic scenery of Hawaii is like candy for the eyes. Of course you can always tune in to see the random Hawaiian guy in big flower shirts. I am hooked and enjoy loosing myself in the police action, beautiful cast and dramatic scenic shots.

The Kennedys miniseries
It has been interesting to watch the different parts of The Kennedys miniseries over the last few nights. I have also watched a few of the behind the scenes shows, and I am absolutely interested and intrigued. It definitely doesn't have a place on the History channel, but it is very entertaining television. Tonight is the finale in 2 parts.
In the first part, Marilyn Monroe will be singing "Happy Birthday, Mr. President!" in a handmade crystal dress that she can barely walk in. Also, by the end of Part 1 JFK will be shot. I have been impressed that the "television" coverage has been recreated except for some of the real people that they decided not to cast - Walter Cronkite. I am curious, though, to see if they show him actually being shot or if they cut away or try to piece together real footage.
In part 2, the finale, there will be the grieving for JFK and much more. The finale will go up to Bobby being shot and Jackie being proposed to by Onassis. I am riveted and can't wait to see how they finish this. I hope some of you have been watching, I would love to hear your take on the entertainment behind The Kennedys.
