I love Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg was/is in one of my favorite childhood bands (New Kids on the Block), so Blue Bloods is right up my alley. Tom Selleck is the police commissioner and Donnie Wahlberg is his son and a police detective. There is another daughter who is a District Attorney and the youngest son is a beat cop. So this family is all about doing right and being good. Sounds boring and who wants to watch that but it is more than meets-the-eye.
There is plenty of conflict and a case to solve each show, but it's not really about the cases. The family is where the drama, humor and heart come from. The dynamics with Tom Selleck and each of his kids, their significant others and his grandchildren make the show fantastic. One of the unique parts about most of the episodes is that they sit as a family on Sundays and have a meal together. (I haven't seen that since 7th Heaven.)
Turn it on for the police chase action, and of course that spectacular moustache (or as Son calls it a "mousnache") and stay for the well-developed characters and the heart-felt connections. I will be watching tonight, will you?
